We extend our sincere congratulations to the University of Toronto Hyperloop Team for qualifying for the upcoming European Hyperloop Competition scheduled for July 2021!
Occasionally, an opportunity comes along to be involved in a passion project. When the University of Toronto Hyperloop Team approached Kobelt to design and manufacture a brake system for their new hyperloop design, we were exited to take on the challenge.
First proposed by a joint team from Tesla and SpaceX, the hyperloop train is an ultra high-speed mode of sustainable transportation. The concept aims to reduce friction and air resistance; the two main variables that limit current modes of land transportation. By operating in a partial vacuum, powered by electronic propulsion and elevated by magnetic levitation, the hyperloop enables ground travel at speeds that are equivalent to air travel.
The team is currently assembling the protype unit and we are excited to keep abreast of their progress in the coming months (visit https://www.utht.ca/ ). In addition, we look forward to validating the performance of the purpose designed braking system supplied by Kobelt.
Best of luck at the upcoming competition!
